Robust construction
The PCB thickness is standard, and the silk screen is very clear, making wiring mistakes unlikely. I have tested it with several different brands of MicroSD cards, and all worked immediately.

Good value, clear documentation
The Waveshare wiki provides excellent examples for Arduino and STM32. The only minor issue is that the pin headers need to be soldered by the user, but that is expected at this price point.

Great for learning embedded systems
Bought this for a university project. It helped me understand file systems on microcontrollers. Works well, though I wish it came with a sample SD card included.

Essential for sensor logging
Using this to log sensor data from an ESP32. It handles continuous writing without errors. The voltage regulation on the board makes it safe to use with 5V logic.
Q: What is the maximum supported SD card capacity?
A: While it typically supports cards up to 32GB reliably, many users have reported success with 64GB and 128GB cards formatted in FAT32.
Q: Does the package include the pin headers?
A: Yes, the package includes a strip of male pin headers that you can solder onto the board according to your project needs.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V Arduino boards?
A: Yes, the module features level shifting circuitry, making it fully compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers like the Arduino Uno.
Q: Is there a write-protect switch on this module?
A: No, this specific compact module does not include a physical write-protect switch. Write protection must be handled via software if required.
Q: Can I use this with an ESP8266 NodeMCU?
A: Absolutely. This module is widely used with ESP8266 and ESP32 boards. Just ensure you connect the CS, MOSI, MISO, and SCK pins correctly.
