Great hardware, documentation could be better
The build quality is excellent and the ESP32-S3 chip handles multitasking well. However, finding specific pinout details for the LCD driver took some digging in the GitHub repo. Once configured, it runs smoothly.

Seamless integration with Home Assistant
Used this to create a custom status dashboard for my Home Assistant setup. The touch response is decent, and the Wi-Fi connection is stable. The community support for this specific Waveshare board is growing fast.

Perfect for AI Voice Projects

Good value but gets warm
Functionality is top-notch for the price. The only minor issue is that the board gets slightly warm when using Wi-Fi and the display at full brightness simultaneously. Not a dealbreaker, but something to consider for enclosed cases.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.7V Li-Po battery?
A: Yes, there is a dedicated JST connector for Li-Po batteries. The board includes a charging circuit, so you can connect a single-cell 3.7V battery directly, and it will charge via the USB-C port when connected.
Q: Are there example codes available for the LCD display?
A: Yes, Waveshare provides a comprehensive Wiki with example codes for both Arduino IDE and ESP-IDF. These examples cover drawing primitives, displaying images, and handling touch inputs.
Q: What is the refresh rate of the 1.85-inch display?
A: The display typically operates at 60Hz. Performance may vary slightly depending on the graphics library used and the complexity of the content being rendered on the screen.
