Compact but runs hot under load
The performance is top-notch for motor control and sensor fusion. However, during intensive Wi-Fi transmission tasks, the chip gets noticeably warm. I added a small heatsink which solved the issue. Otherwise, a fantastic board.

Perfect for compact IoT projects
This board is incredibly small yet powerful. The native USB support makes flashing code a breeze without needing external programmers. I used it for a smart sensor node and the Wi-Fi range is surprisingly good for such a tiny module.

Reliable Bluetooth LE performance
I specifically needed strong BLE capabilities for a wearable prototype. This ESP32-S3 variant handles connections stably even in noisy environments. The power consumption is also quite low when in deep sleep mode.

Seamless MicroPython integration
Flashed MicroPython immediately out of the box. The 2MB PSRAM allows for handling larger datasets directly on the device. Highly recommend for anyone looking to prototype quickly without C++ complexity.

Great value, minor documentation gaps
Hardware quality is excellent and the pinout is well labeled. It runs ESP-IDF smoothly. Only giving 4 stars because the specific pin mapping for the PSRAM took some digging to find in the docs, but once configured, it works flawlessly.
Q: Is the USB-C port data-capable or just for charging?
A: The USB-C port is fully data-capable. It supports both UART programming and Native USB device/host functionality thanks to the ESP32-S3 chip.
Q: Does this board support external antennas for better range?
A: No, this specific WROOM model comes with an onboard PCB antenna only. There is no U.FL connector for an external antenna on this version.
Q: Does this come with headers pre-soldered?
A: No, this board is typically shipped without headers to keep the profile low and allow for custom mounting. You will need to solder your own header pins or use pogo pins.
Q: Can I power this board directly with a 3.7V LiPo battery?
