Solid performance, minor heating
Runs my custom voice commands smoothly. The only downside is that it gets slightly warm when Wi-Fi and brightness are both at max, but nothing concerning for normal operation.

Excellent value for money
For the price, you cannot beat this combination of features. The 16MB flash gives plenty of room for complex logic and assets. Highly recommended for prototyping IoT devices with UI.

My first ESP32 project
I am new to embedded systems and this board made learning fun. The touchscreen works great out of the box, and the community support for the Xiaozhi assistant is very active.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The board itself is fantastic quality. The screen is beautiful and low power consumption is noticeable. However, some of the advanced audio configuration steps in the wiki were a bit vague for beginners.

Perfect for AI Voice Projects
The integration of the AMOLED screen with the ESP32-S3 is seamless. I got the Xiaozhi voice assistant running in under an hour using the provided examples. The touch response is crisp and the colors are vibrant.

Beautiful display quality
The AMOLED screen makes a huge difference compared to standard LCDs I've used before. Blacks are true black and the viewing angles are excellent. Great for wearable projects.
Q: What is the maximum brightness level of the AMOLED screen?
A: The screen can reach up to 600 nits peak brightness, which ensures good visibility even in moderately lit indoor environments. Brightness is software adjustable.
Q: Can I connect an external battery directly to this board?
A: Yes, there is a dedicated PH2.0 connector for a 3.7V Li-Po battery. The board includes charging circuitry, so it can charge the battery via USB-C while operating.
Q: Is the microphone sensitive enough for voice recognition across a room?
A: The onboard microphone is optimized for near-field interaction (within 1-2 meters). For better far-field performance, we recommend connecting an external I2S microphone array via the expansion pins.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython out of the box?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3 chip fully supports MicroPython. You will need to flash the firmware yourself, but Waveshare provides a guide and sample code on their wiki.
Q: Are the pin headers pre-soldered?
A: No, the board typically ships without pre-soldered headers to allow flexibility for different mounting options. You will need to solder your own headers or use pogo pins.
