Perfect for Edge AI projects
The NPU performance is impressive for local inference tasks. I successfully deployed a YOLO model with real-time processing. The thermal management is adequate but a heatsink is mandatory.

Incredible performance for the price
The RK3588 chip is a beast. I'm running Ubuntu and compiling code much faster than on my old Pi 4. The 8K output works flawlessly with my monitor. Highly recommended for serious developers.

Great board, steep learning curve
Hardware is top-notch with plenty of I/O options. However, software support is still maturing compared to Raspberry Pi. Expect to do some troubleshooting if you need specific peripheral drivers.

Solid for industrial prototyping
We are using this for a control panel prototype. The dual LAN capability (with hat) and robust interfaces are great. Wish the documentation for enterprise features was more detailed.

Emulation powerhouse
Runs PS2 and GameCube emulation smoothly. The GPU handles upscaling beautifully. Setup took a bit of time finding the right image, but once running, it's stable.

Good hardware, needs patience
If you are new to SBCs, this might be overwhelming. It's not plug-and-play like some competitors. But if you stick with it, the performance reward is worth the effort.
Q: Does the M.2 slot support booting from an NVMe SSD?
A: Yes, the M.2 M-Key slot supports NVMe SSDs, and the board can boot directly from them. This provides significantly faster storage speeds compared to MicroSD cards.
Q: Is the WiFi and Bluetooth module built-in or optional?
A: Depending on the specific SKU you purchase, the WiFi/BT module may be pre-soldered or require an optional M.2 E-Key card. Please check the product variant details before ordering.
Q: Does this board come with a power adapter included?
A: No, the ROCK 5B board is sold without a power adapter. We recommend using a high-quality 5V/4A USB-C power supply to ensure stable operation, especially when using peripherals.
Q: Can I use a Raspberry Pi 4 case for this board?
A: Generally, no. While the dimensions are similar to a credit card, the port placement and header locations on the ROCK 5B differ significantly from the Raspberry Pi 4. You will need a case specifically designed for the ROCK 5B.
Q: What operating systems are officially supported?
A: Officially supported OS images include Debian, Ubuntu, Android 12, and Buildroot. Community ports for Arch Linux ARM and other distributions are also available on our forum.
