Perfect for beginners learning 8051
This board is exactly what I needed to get started with the 8051 architecture. The pinout is clearly labeled, and the included examples on the CD work right out of the box. Great value for the price.

You simply cannot beat this price for a fully featured development board. It has everything you need to prototype C51 projects without buying extra components immediately.

Nostalgic and functional
Brings me back to my college days. It's not the fastest chip by modern standards, but it teaches the fundamentals of embedded systems perfectly. Wish it came with a breadboard area.

Great for classroom use
Bought ten of these for my university lab. They have held up well under student use, and the variety of onboard peripherals like LEDs and buttons makes teaching interrupts and timers very easy.

Excellent build quality
I was worried about the soldering quality given the low price, but the joints are clean and solid. The USB programming interface works flawlessly with the STC-ISP software.

Good hardware, documentation could be better
The board itself is sturdy and functions well. However, some of the tutorial comments are in Chinese, which required me to use a translator. Once figured out, it's a fantastic learning tool.
Q: Is the source code for the examples provided in English?
A: The hardware schematics are universal, but some comments in the provided C-language example code may be in Chinese. However, the logic is standard and easy to follow for experienced programmers.
Q: Can I power this board with a 9V battery?
A: The board is designed for 5V input. While there is a voltage regulator, we recommend using the 5V USB connection or a regulated 5V DC adapter to ensure stability and prevent damage.
Q: Does this board support direct USB programming without an external programmer?
A: Yes, the Puzhong 51 board features an onboard USB-to-TTL converter, allowing you to program the STC89C52 directly via the included USB cable using the STC-ISP software.
Q: What IDE do you recommend for writing code for this board?
A: Keil uVision is the most popular and fully supported IDE for C51 development. You can also use SDCC (Small Device C Compiler) if you prefer an open-source toolchain.
