Great hardware, minor software quirks
Hardware build quality is exceptional. The CNC case feels premium. Had some initial trouble with the NVMe driver on Ubuntu, but community support helped resolve it quickly.

Using this for a custom IoT gateway project. The GPIO header access and robust ethernet connectivity make it ideal for industrial control scenarios.
Q: Is the source code for the kernel available?
A: Yes, FriendlyElec provides open-source kernel code and SDK documentation on their official GitHub repository for developers.
Q: Can I run Docker containers on this device?
A: Absolutely. When running Linux distributions like Ubuntu or Debian, you can install and run Docker containers efficiently thanks to the quad-core processor.
Q: Does this board support PoE input?
A: No, the NanoPi R5S does not have built-in Power over Ethernet (PoE) input. It requires a separate USB-C power supply.
Q: What is the maximum capacity for the M.2 NVMe SSD?
A: The M.2 interface supports NVMe SSDs up to 2TB, provided the SSD is in the 2280 form factor.
Q: Does the package include the power adapter?
A: This specific SKU includes the CNC metal case and the board, but the power adapter is sold separately. Please ensure you purchase a compatible USB-C PD charger.
