Best value for money in this category
Compared to buying the board, screen, switches, and case separately, this bundle saves a lot of money. The MicroPython support is flawless, allowing me to get my keyboard firmware running in under an hour. Definitely buying another one.

Excellent for custom game controllers
I used this to create a specialized controller for retro emulation. The latency is incredibly low, and the Bluetooth connectivity is stable. The fact that it comes with cables and a case makes it a true plug-and-play development experience.

Robust S3 implementation
As someone who works with embedded systems daily, I appreciate the inclusion of PSRAM and the dual-core performance. It handles complex UI logic on the small display without lag. The hot-swappable switch feature is a nice bonus for prototyping.

Fun project, minor assembly required
The kit arrived well-packaged. You do need to screw the case together and ensure the ribbon cable for the screen is seated correctly, but instructions were clear enough. It's now my go-to device for controlling my smart home dashboard.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The build quality is solid and the screen is bright and crisp. I had a slight struggle finding the specific pinout map for the mouse encoder, but once I found it in the community forum, everything worked perfectly. Highly recommend for learning.

Perfect starter kit for HID projects
This board is exactly what I needed to build a custom macro keypad. The ESP32-S3 handles USB HID tasks effortlessly, and the included case saves hours of 3D printing time. The mechanical switches feel great right out of the box.
Q: Is the battery included in the package?
A: No, the lithium-polymer battery is not included due to shipping regulations. The board has a dedicated JST connector for easily adding your own 3.7V battery for portable use.
Q: Does this board support QMK or VIAL firmware?
A: Yes, the MK Makcu board is compatible with VIAL and can be configured to work with QMK, provided you compile the firmware for the ESP32-S3 architecture. Community ports are available on GitHub.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported by the LCD screen?
A: The integrated IPS LCD screen has a native resolution of 240x240 pixels. It supports full color depth and is driven directly by the ESP32-S3 GPIOs using SPI communication.
