Great board, documentation could be better
Hardware quality is top-notch. The PCIe lanes are very flexible for adding NVMe drives or capture cards. However, getting the custom device tree configured for specific peripherals took some digging in the forums. Once set up, it's rock solid.

Industrial grade reliability
Deployed five of these in a pilot industrial control system. They have been running 24/7 for three months without issues. The wide voltage input support makes integration into existing cabinets very straightforward.

Excellent video encoding capabilities
Using this for a multi-camera surveillance recorder. The hardware encoding supports multiple 4K streams smoothly. Only giving 4 stars because the heatsink solution requires careful case design to avoid thermal throttling under sustained full load.

Perfect for autonomous robot brains
I replaced my old Jetson setup with this for a mobile robot project. The power efficiency is impressive, and the ability to drive 8K displays is overkill but fun for debugging visualizations. Highly recommended for robotics.

Best value high-end SBC right now
For the price point, you cannot beat the specs. Four PCIe lanes allow me to connect a fast SSD and a dedicated network card easily. Boot times on the eMMC module are lightning fast. FriendlyElec did a great job with the layout.

Incredible performance for edge AI projects
The RK3588 chip on this board is a beast. I'm running multiple object detection models simultaneously using the NPU, and it handles the load without breaking a sweat. The 2.5G ethernet is a huge plus for my data ingestion pipeline.
Q: What is the maximum storage capacity supported via the eMMC socket?
A: The eMMC socket supports modules up to 128GB. For larger storage needs, we recommend utilizing the PCIe 3.0 interface to connect an NVMe SSD, which supports much higher capacities.
Q: Can I run Windows IoT on this development board?
A: Currently, the NANO Pi CM3588 officially supports Android 12, Debian, Ubuntu, and Buildroot. There is no official support for Windows IoT at this time.
Q: Does this board come with a heatsink or fan included?
A: The core board itself does not include a heatsink or fan. You will need to purchase a compatible carrier board or cooling solution separately to ensure proper thermal management for the RK3588 processor.
Q: Is the 2.5G Ethernet port compatible with standard 1G routers?
A: Yes, the 2.5G Ethernet port is backward compatible. It will automatically negotiate down to 1Gbps or 100Mbps depending on your router or switch capabilities.
Q: How many MIPI CSI camera interfaces can be used simultaneously?
A: The RK3588 SoC supports up to 4 MIPI CSI interfaces simultaneously. You can connect multiple cameras for stereoscopic vision or multi-angle surveillance setups.
