Best entry-level Cyclone IV board
Compared to other boards in this category, the Firefly Zhengtu offers the best feature set including HDMI. The community support is growing, which helps when you get stuck on Verilog syntax.

Great value, minor documentation gaps
Hardware quality is excellent for the price point. The pinout is clearly labeled. However, some of the advanced HDMI examples could use better comments in the source code. Still highly recommended.

Perfect for beginners and prototyping
This board is exactly what I needed to start learning FPGA development. The HDMI output works flawlessly with the example projects provided in the wiki. Setup with Quartus was straightforward.

Solid board, fast shipping
The board arrived well-packaged. All headers are soldered perfectly. I wish it had a second clock oscillator option onboard, but for the price, you can't complain. Works great with USB Blaster clones.

Ideal for retro gaming cores
I successfully ported a simple VGA game core to use the HDMI output. The Cyclone IV has enough logic elements for most 8-bit and 16-bit system recreations. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent university project board
Used this for my final year digital design project. The onboard buttons and switches made testing state machines very easy without needing external components. Robust build quality.
Q: Does the HDMI port support audio output?
A: The hardware supports audio transmission over HDMI, but you will need to implement the specific I2S to HDMI audio logic in your Verilog/VHDL design, as the base examples focus primarily on video.
Q: Can I power this board directly from a computer USB port?
A: Yes, you can power the board via the Micro-USB port connected to a computer or a 5V USB wall adapter. For projects driving many peripherals, we recommend using an external 5V/2A power supply via the barrel jack.
Q: Does this board come with a USB Blaster programmer included?
A: No, the USB Blaster programmer is sold separately. However, the board is compatible with most standard USB-Blaster clones available on the market.
