Solid choice for custom ESC projects
The pinout is logical and the PCB layout is clean. I deducted one star only because the sample code could use more comments for the CoE protocol implementation.

Great hardware, steep learning curve
The build quality is excellent and the dual controller option is a nice touch. However, beginners should be prepared to read the datasheets thoroughly as the configuration requires some embedded systems knowledge.

Perfect for Industrial Automation Prototyping
This board made setting up our EtherCAT slave node incredibly fast. The documentation for the STM32 integration was clear, and the opto-isolated I/Os saved us time on external circuitry.

Robust and Reliable
We have been running this board in a test rig for three months without a single dropout. The RS485 and CAN interfaces work flawlessly alongside the EtherCAT connection.

Excellent Value for Evaluation
Compared to other development kits on the market, this offers the best price-to-performance ratio. The ability to switch between AX58100 and LAN9252 chips is very convenient for compatibility testing.
Q: Does this support distributed clocks (DC) for synchronization?
A: Yes, both the AX58100 and LAN9252 controllers on this board fully support EtherCAT Distributed Clocks for precise multi-axis synchronization.
Q: Does this board come with pre-flashed firmware or is it blank?
A: The board ships with a basic demo firmware that establishes an EtherCAT connection and toggles the onboard LEDs. Source code is provided in the repository for you to modify and flash your own application.
Q: What IDE is recommended for developing on the STM32 portion?
A: You can use any standard ARM Cortex-M4 development environment. We recommend STM32CubeIDE or Keil MDK, and we provide HAL library examples compatible with both.
Q: Is the AX58100 socketed or soldered? Can I swap it?
A: The controller chip is surface-mounted (soldered) for better signal integrity at high speeds. You must select your preferred controller (AX58100 or LAN9252) at the time of purchase.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 24V PLC power supply?
A: Yes, the board features an onboard DC-DC converter designed specifically for the industrial 24V DC standard range (typically 18V-30V).
