Upgrade from ESP32-C3 was worth it
The vector instructions on the S3 really speed up audio processing. If you are doing voice recognition, get the R8 version specifically.

Solid board, minor pinout confusion
Hardware is excellent and the USB OTG works flawlessly. Just make sure to check the specific pin mapping for the S3 compared to the original ESP32.

Good learning tool
Bought this for my university embedded systems course. Documentation is plentiful online. Only wish it came with a case, but that's minor.

Best value for money
16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM at this price point is unbeatable. Compiles fast and connects to Wi-Fi instantly. Highly recommended for beginners and pros.
Q: Does this board support Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 is fully supported by the Arduino IDE. You just need to install the ESP32 board manager package.
Q: Does it support external antennas?
A: This specific DevKitC-1 model uses an onboard PCB antenna. If you require an external antenna connector, look for the ESP32-S3-DevKitM models instead.
Q: Can I power this board with a 3.7V LiPo battery directly?
A: No, you should not connect a LiPo battery directly to the 5V or 3.3V pins. Use the VIN pin with a proper regulator circuit or a dedicated battery shield designed for ESP32.
Q: What is the difference between N8R2 and N16R8 versions?
A: The N16R8 version featured here has 16MB of Flash storage and 8MB of PSRAM, whereas the N8R2 has 8MB Flash and 2MB PSRAM. The R8 is better for AI and large applications.
Q: Is the USB cable included in the package?
A: Typically, the board is sold without a USB cable. Please check your specific order details, but we recommend having a USB-C data cable ready.
