Good board, driver installation needed
The board is excellent once you get it running. Just note that you might need to install CP210x drivers manually on Windows before it shows up in the device manager. After that, smooth sailing.

Robust performance for industrial prototyping

Kids love the Scratch integration

Best bang for your buck
Compared to other development boards in this category, the feature set here is unbeatable. Dual-mode Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, plenty of GPIOs, and great community support make this a winner.

Perfect for beginners and pros alike
This board works flawlessly with MakeCode and the Arduino IDE. The Wi-Fi connection is stable, and setting up Bluetooth was a breeze. Great value for the price.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The ESP32 itself is powerful and handles my IoT sensor project without issues. However, finding specific pinout diagrams for the Scratch extension took some digging. Overall, highly recommended.

A: Yes, this ESP32 board is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. You will need to add the ESP32 board manager URL to your preferences to install the necessary core files.
Q: Does the MakeCode editor require any software installation?
A: No, the MakeCode editor runs entirely in your web browser. You just need to connect the board via USB, put it in download mode, and drag the compiled file onto the virtual drive that appears.
Q: Can I power this board with a 9V battery?
A: While the VIN pin can accept a range of input voltages, we recommend using a regulated 5V source via the Micro-USB port or a dedicated 5V supply for stability. A 9V battery connected directly to VIN may work but can cause instability if the voltage drops under load.
Q: What is the maximum current draw per GPIO pin?
A: Each GPIO pin can safely source or sink approximately 12mA. The total current drawn from all GPIOs combined should not exceed the limits specified in the ESP32 datasheet to avoid damaging the chip.
Q: Is there a built-in LED I can use for testing?
A: Yes, most versions of this board include an onboard LED connected to GPIO 2. You can control it just like any other digital output pin in your code.
