Works well after initial hurdles
Had some trouble initially getting the drivers installed for the FTDI adapter, but once that was sorted, uploading sketches was easy. The example codes provided in the libraries are very helpful for beginners.

Compact and powerful
Impressed by how small this form factor is while still packing PSRAM. I used it on a small rover for FPV driving. The frame rate is smooth enough for real-time control applications.

Good hardware, tricky lighting
The camera module is decent in bright light, but struggles a bit in low-light conditions without an added LED. The board gets warm during continuous video streaming, so ensure good ventilation in your enclosure.

Perfect for DIY Security Cameras
This board is exactly what I needed for my home automation project. The WiFi connection is stable, and the image quality from the OV2640 sensor is surprisingly good for the price. Setup with Arduino IDE was straightforward.

Excellent learning tool
Bought this for a university IoT project. The documentation online is extensive, and the community support is huge. Being able to switch between Bluetooth and WiFi makes it very versatile for different prototypes.

Great value but needs external programmer
The board works flawlessly once you get code onto it. Just remember it doesn't have a built-in USB-to-serial chip, so you must use the included FTDI base or a separate programmer. Video streaming latency is low.
Q: Does the package include the antenna?
A: Yes, the board comes with a pre-soldered PCB antenna. There is also a connector option on some batches for an external antenna if you require extended range.
Q: What is the maximum SD card size supported?
A: The board supports microSD cards up to 4GB officially, but many users have successfully utilized cards up to 32GB formatted in FAT32.
Q: Is the flashlight LED controllable via code?
A: Yes, the onboard LED is connected to GPIO 4. You can easily control it by setting the pin mode to OUTPUT and writing HIGH or LOW in your sketch.
Q: Does this board support MicroPython?
A: Yes, the ESP32-CAM is fully compatible with MicroPython. You will need to flash the appropriate firmware binary using a tool like esptool.py.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.7V LiPo battery?
A: While the ESP32 chip runs on 3.3V, the board input is designed for 5V. We recommend using a small boost converter or a dedicated battery shield to step up your 3.7V LiPo to 5V for stable operation.
