Perfect compact board for IoT projects

This SuperMini version is incredibly small yet packs all the features of the larger ESP32-C3 boards. The USB-C connection is a huge plus, and it was recognized immediately by my computer without needing extra drivers. Great for wearable tech.

Reliable Bluetooth LE performance

I used this to create a custom smart home sensor. The Bluetooth LE range is surprisingly good for such a tiny antenna. It connects quickly to my hub and hasn't dropped a signal in two weeks of testing.

Excellent value for RISC-V development

Switching from ESP8266 to this C3 model was seamless. The RISC-V architecture performs well for low-power applications. The build quality is solid, and the soldering pads are accessible despite the small size.

Bulk buy for our workshop was a hit

Good board, wish it had more RAM

For the price, this is an unbeatable learning tool. It handles basic web server tasks and sensor reading perfectly. However, if you plan on doing heavy image processing or complex audio, the limited RAM might be a bottleneck.

Great for learning, minor pin labeling issue

As a beginner, I found this board easy to set up with the Arduino IDE. The Wi-Fi connectivity is stable. My only complaint is that the pinout diagram on the back is a bit small to read without a magnifying glass, but online resources helped.

Q: Does this board support MicroPython out of the box?

A: The board comes with a factory firmware demo, but it is fully compatible with MicroPython. You will need to flash the MicroPython firmware using a tool like esptool.py, which is a straightforward process documented in our wiki.

Q: Is the antenna external or internal?

A: This SuperMini version features an onboard PCB antenna. There is no connector for an external antenna on this specific model, but the internal antenna provides sufficient range for most indoor applications.

Q: What is the maximum current draw for the GPIO pins?

A: Each GPIO pin can source or sink up to 40mA. However, the total current for all ports combined should not exceed specific limits outlined in the ESP32-C3 datasheet to prevent damage to the chip.

Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.7V LiPo battery?

A: Yes, you can connect a 3.7V LiPo battery to the VIN and GND pins. The board has an onboard LDO regulator that can handle input voltages typically ranging from 3.3V to 5.5V efficiently.

Q: How do I enter boot mode if the auto-boot fails?

A: If the board does not automatically enter download mode, hold down the 'BOOT' button while pressing and releasing the 'RESET' button. Then release the 'BOOT' button after a second. The device should now be ready for programming.
