Perfect for my hexapod robot
This board works flawlessly with my Raspberry Pi project. The I2C addressing is straightforward, and it handles all 16 servos without any jitter. Highly recommended for robotics enthusiasts.

Great value, minor soldering needed
The module functions exactly as described. You need to solder the header pins yourself, which is standard for this price point. The code libraries for Arduino are very easy to use.

Reliable industrial control solution
We used several of these for a prototype automation arm. The ability to daisy-chain multiple boards via I2C saved us a lot of GPIO pins on our microcontroller. Very stable performance.

Good but watch your power supply
The board itself is fantastic. Just remember to use a separate power source for the servos if you are driving high-torque ones, otherwise, you might reset your microcontroller.

Smooth operation out of the box
Plug and play with Python libraries. The 12-bit resolution provides very smooth movement for camera gimbals. No complaints at all for this price.

Excellent for learning PWM control
Bought this for my university mechatronics course. It's robust and the documentation online is plentiful. It helped me understand how to manage multiple servos efficiently.
Q: What is the maximum current per channel?
A: Each channel can handle up to 25mA. For higher current servos, you must provide external power to the servo rail while using the board only for signal control.
Q: Can I control stepper motors with this?
A: This board is designed specifically for PWM servo control. While it can generate PWM signals, it does not provide the specific sequencing or current handling required for direct stepper motor driving without additional driver circuitry.
Q: Can this board be used with an ESP32?
A: Yes, the PCA9685 module is fully compatible with ESP32, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and any microcontroller that supports I2C communication.
Q: Is there a library available for Python?
A: Yes, there are several open-source Python libraries available, such as 'Adafruit_CircuitPython_PCA9685', which make controlling the servos very simple.
