Beautiful tone and finish
The gloss finish looks stunning, and the spruce top gives it a bright, resonant sound. I upgraded from a toy guitar, and the difference is night and day. Very happy with this purchase.

Good ergonomics for smaller hands
As an adult with smaller hands, the narrower neck profile on these models is very comfortable. The intonation is accurate up the fretboard. A reliable instrument for learning proper technique.

Great value adult starter guitar
Purchased the C40 for myself to learn classical guitar. The action is comfortable, and the build quality feels solid. It's not a concert instrument, but for the price, it exceeds expectations.

Yamaha reliability as always
This is my third Yamaha guitar. The C70 model has a slightly warmer tone than the C40. Excellent craftsmanship and very easy to play for beginners. Setup out of the box was nearly perfect.

Solid choice for music schools
We bought several of these for our community music program. They hold up well to daily use by different students. The nylon strings are gentle on fingers, which is great for kids.

Perfect first guitar for my daughter
I bought the CS40 for my 8-year-old daughter, and the size is just right for her. The sound is surprisingly clear for a beginner instrument, and it stays in tune well. Highly recommended for young students.
Q: Are the strings pre-installed, and what type are they?
A: Yes, the guitar comes pre-strung with standard nylon classical strings, which are softer on the fingers and ideal for beginners learning classical technique.
Q: Is there a left-handed version available for the C40 model?
A: Yes, Yamaha produces a left-handed version of the C40, often labeled as C40L. Please check our current stock or contact us to place a special order if it is not immediately listed.
Q: Can I use steel strings on this guitar instead of nylon?
A: No, you should never use steel strings on a classical guitar like the C40 or CS40. The higher tension of steel strings can damage the neck and bridge, which are designed only for nylon strings.
Q: Does this guitar come with a case or gig bag?
A: No, the guitar is sold separately. We recommend purchasing a compatible classical guitar gig bag or hard case to protect your instrument during transport.
Q: What is the main difference between the CS40 and the C40 models?
A: The CS40 is a 36-inch scale guitar designed specifically for children, while the C40 is a full-size 39-inch instrument intended for adults or older teenagers.
