Great for prototyping
I ordered five of these for my university lab. They are consistent in performance across all units. The potentiometer allows for fine-tuning which is essential for our varying light conditions.

Good quality, easy to integrate
The build quality is solid and the pins are well-soldered. It took me less than ten minutes to get it working with my Raspberry Pi. Only giving 4 stars because the documentation could be slightly more detailed.

Excellent light detection
Bought this for a school science project with my son. The response time to light changes is instant. We used it to trigger an LED when the room got dark, and it worked perfectly every time.

Beginner friendly
As someone new to electronics, I found this module very easy to use. The three-pin interface makes wiring simple, and the onboard LED indicator helps visualize the output state immediately.
Q: Can this module work directly with a 5V Arduino Uno?
A: Yes, this module operates within the 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with the 5V logic of an Arduino Uno without needing a level shifter.
Q: Are the mounting holes standard size for M3 screws?
A: The mounting holes are approximately 3mm in diameter, which is suitable for M3 screws or standard 3mm bolts commonly used in electronics projects.
Q: What is the maximum current this module can handle?
A: The output pin can typically sink up to 20mA, which is sufficient for driving small LEDs or interfacing with microcontroller input pins. For higher loads, please use a relay or transistor.
Q: Is the sensitivity adjustable in complete darkness?
A: The potentiometer adjusts the threshold at which the switch triggers. You can set it so that even very low light levels trigger the output, but the sensor needs some ambient light to function as intended.
Q: Does this provide an analog output or just digital?
A: This specific model provides a digital switching output (DO). If you require an analog reading of light intensity, please check our separate analog photoresistor modules.
