Good range, easy to integrate

I used the VL53L1 version for obstacle avoidance on a custom drone. It reaches the advertised 4 meters reliably. Setup took only about 15 minutes.

Q: Does the package include connecting wires?

A: The standard package includes the sensor module only. Connecting wires or header pins need to be purchased separately or sourced from your existing inventory.

Q: Is this sensor compatible with 5V logic levels directly?

A: Yes, the module supports an operating voltage range of 3.3V to 5.0V, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers without level shifters.

Q: What is the difference between the VL53L0X and VL53L1X versions?

A: The primary difference is the maximum ranging distance. The VL53L0X reaches up to 2 meters, while the VL53L1X extends that range to approximately 4 meters with improved performance in ambient light.

Q: What protocol does the serial port use?

A: The sensor communicates via standard UART (TTL Serial). You simply need to connect TX, RX, VCC, and GND to your host controller.

Q: Can this be used outdoors in direct sunlight?

A: While the ToF technology is robust, direct intense sunlight can interfere with infrared sensors. For best results outdoors, we recommend shielding the sensor or using it in shaded areas.
