Great for university projects
Used this for my final year project on non-contact temperature monitoring. The I2C interface saved me GPIO pins, and the data output is consistent and reliable.

Nice upgrade from lower res sensors
Coming from a 32x24 sensor, the difference in image clarity is night and day. The only downside is that it draws a bit more current than expected, so plan your power supply accordingly.

Good value but needs calibration
Great little module for detecting heat leaks in my home. Out of the box, the temperature readings were slightly off, but after running the calibration routine, it became much more accurate.

Perfect for Raspberry Pi projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Raspberry Pi 4. The Python library provided by Waveshare made integration very easy. The 80x62 resolution is surprisingly clear for the price point.

Excellent for obstacle avoidance
I am using this on a small robot to detect warm objects. The frame rate is smooth enough for real-time processing. Highly recommend for anyone getting into thermal imaging.
Q: Can this sensor measure the temperature of moving objects?
A: Yes, with a frame rate of up to 25Hz, the sensor is capable of capturing temperature data from slowly moving objects effectively.
Q: Does this module come with a lens cap or protective cover?
A: The module does not include a dedicated lens cap in the standard package, but the sensor window is recessed slightly to offer minor protection. We recommend 3D printing a custom cover if needed for harsh environments.
Q: What is the accuracy of the temperature measurement?
A: Under standard laboratory conditions, the accuracy is typically ±2°C or ±2% of the reading, whichever is greater. Accuracy may vary based on emissivity settings and environmental factors.
Q: Can I connect multiple sensors to one I2C bus?
A: By default, the sensors share the same I2C address. To connect multiple units, you would need to modify the hardware address jumpers if available on your specific batch, or use separate UART interfaces for each sensor.
Q: Is there a library available for Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, Waveshare provides an open-source library compatible with the Arduino IDE. You can find the download link and usage examples on the product wiki page.
