Perfect for my Arduino greenhouse project
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The analog output gives a smooth reading of moisture levels, and the digital threshold is easy to adjust with the potentiometer. Build quality feels solid.

Good value, but needs calibration
Great little module for the price. You do need to spend some time calibrating the potentiometer to get the exact dry/wet point you want, but once set, it's very reliable. The gold plating on the probes is a nice touch.

Responsive and durable
Been using this in a test bed for three months now. No signs of corrosion on the probes yet. The 4-wire setup makes it versatile for both simple on/off logic and detailed moisture mapping.

Excellent sensitivity adjustment
The blue potentiometer allows for very precise tuning. I can distinguish between damp and soaking wet soil easily. Works perfectly at 3.3V for my low-power IoT node.

Solid sensor for beginners
Easy to wire up and plenty of tutorials available online. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the screw terminals could be slightly larger for thicker gauge wires, but it works fine with standard jumper wires.

Saved my indoor plants!
I connected this to an ESP32 to monitor my potted plants while on vacation. It accurately detected when the soil was dry and triggered my pump. Highly recommend for automated watering systems.
Q: Can this sensor be used directly with a 3.3V microcontroller like the ESP8266?
A: Yes, the module operates within a 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with 3.3V logic microcontrollers like the ESP8266 and ESP32 without needing a level shifter.
Q: Are the probes resistant to rust if left in the soil long-term?
A: The probes are gold-nickel plated to significantly reduce corrosion compared to bare steel. However, for permanent long-term installation (months/years), we recommend checking them periodically or using capacitive sensors for maximum longevity.
Q: How do I calibrate the sensitivity for my specific soil type?
A: Insert the probe into dry soil and turn the potentiometer until the DO LED just turns off. Then insert it into wet soil to verify the LED turns on. This sets your custom threshold for that specific soil mixture.
Q: What is the difference between the DO and AO pins?
A: AO (Analog Output) provides a continuous voltage value proportional to the soil moisture level, which you can read with an ADC. DO (Digital Output) acts as a switch; it goes high or low based on a threshold you set using the onboard potentiometer.
Q: Does this module come with screws for the terminal block?
A: Yes, the package includes the sensor module, the probe, and the necessary small screws to secure your wires into the green terminal block.
