Great range, lightweight
Using the 400F version on a custom survey drone. It is incredibly light and the data output is stable. Only minor issue is the need for a specific pull-up resistor configuration for IIC, but the docs helped.

Solid performance outdoors
Tested this in direct sunlight and it held up better than expected for a ToF sensor. The 200m range is accurate for large reflective surfaces. Slight drop in precision on dark matte objects, which is physics, not a defect.

Best value for long-range ToF
Compared to other modules in this price bracket, the serial mode flexibility is unmatched. Being able to switch between IIC and MODBUS via firmware commands saves hardware redesign time.

Reliable and fast

Easy to interface with Arduino
Bought the 50F model for a short-range obstacle avoidance robot. The library examples provided made setup trivial. Accurate down to the millimeter as advertised.
Q: How do I switch between IIC and MODBUS modes?
A: Mode switching is done via specific serial commands or by setting a hardware pin high/low during boot, depending on the firmware version. Please refer to the 'Configuration Guide' PDF included in the download section for detailed command strings.
Q: Does the package include mounting brackets?
A: The standard package includes the sensor module and a pin header connector. Mounting brackets are sold separately, but the module features four M2 screw holes for easy custom mounting.
Q: Can this sensor measure through glass?
A: No, ToF laser sensors generally cannot measure distance through transparent materials like clear glass because the laser passes through rather than reflecting back. It works best on opaque surfaces.
Q: Is a separate power regulator needed for 5V systems?
A: No, the module has an onboard voltage regulator and accepts input voltages from 3.3V to 5.0V directly. You can connect it straight to a 5V Arduino or PLC supply.
Q: What is the maximum update rate for the 400F model?
A: The maximum update rate is configurable up to 1000Hz. However, at maximum range (400m), we recommend a lower frequency (around 10-50Hz) to ensure signal stability and accuracy.
