Perfect for my DIY irrigation project
This module works exactly as described. The sensitivity adjustment is very responsive, allowing me to set the exact moisture level needed before the pump activates. Easy to wire up with my Arduino.

Good value but probes need care
The sensor detects moisture changes quickly. Just remember to wipe the probes clean every few weeks to prevent corrosion, which is common with this type of sensor. Overall great for the price.

Does the job well
Successfully used this to keep my balcony herbs alive while on vacation. The activation point is consistent. Deducting one star only because the cable could be slightly longer.

Reliable digital output
I appreciate the clear digital high/low signal. It makes coding the logic for my automatic watering system straightforward. The LED indicators are also helpful for debugging.
Q: Is the probe cable waterproof?
A: The metal probes are designed for soil insertion, and the immediate connection point is sealed. However, the entire length of the cable is not submersible; please keep the connector end dry.
Q: Can this sensor directly drive a water pump?
A: No, this module provides a logic signal only. You must use a relay module or a transistor circuit to safely switch the higher current required by a water pump.
Q: Does this work with 3.3V systems like ESP32?
A: Yes, it operates at 5V but the digital output is generally compatible with 3.3V logic inputs. For best stability, we recommend using a 5V power source for the module itself.
Q: What is the maximum current this board can handle?
A: The onboard comparator circuit draws very little current (approx. 20mA). The output pin is a signal line and should not source more than 50mA. It is intended to trigger other devices, not power them directly.
Q: How often do I need to replace the probes?
A: Lifespan depends on soil acidity and usage. With regular cleaning to remove oxidation, they can last several months to a year. For long-term deployment, consider coating them with a conductive protective layer.
