Works well but sensitive to distance

The sensor is accurate, but you really need to keep the object within 5-8mm for best results. If it's too far, the readings fluctuate. Otherwise, it's a solid component for the cost.

Easy to use for beginners

I am new to electronics, and this was very easy to integrate. There are plenty of libraries available online that work right out of the box. The included wires fit snugly into the header.

Good value, needs calibration

The module arrived quickly and looks well-built. It took a bit of time to calibrate the white balance in the code, but once set up, it reads colors consistently. Great addition to my ESP32 home automation setup.

Reliable and compact

Used this on a small line-following robot that also detects colored zones. The response time is fast enough for real-time applications. The integrated LED helps significantly in low-light conditions.

Perfect for my Arduino sorting project

This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The PH2.0 connector made wiring very clean, and the color accuracy is impressive for the price. I used it to sort M&Ms by color, and it distinguished them easily.

Excellent I2C performance

No issues with I2C communication even when daisy-chained with other sensors. The clear channel data is useful for adjusting gain dynamically. Highly recommended for prototyping.

Q: What is the maximum detection distance for accurate color reading?

A: For the most accurate RGB values, we recommend placing the object between 3mm and 10mm from the sensor surface.

Q: Can this work directly with 5V logic without a level shifter?

A: The module operates between 3.3V and 5V. However, since it uses I2C, ensure your microcontroller's SDA/SCL lines are compatible or use a level shifter if mixing 3.3V and 5V systems.

Q: Does the onboard LED stay on all the time?

A: No, the integrated white LED is controllable via software. You can turn it on only when taking a reading to save power or reduce interference.
