Industrial grade quality
We use these in a prototype environmental monitoring box. The stainless steel encapsulation protects against corrosion from condensation. Data logging has been stable and error-free. Highly recommended for serious projects.

Good value for money
Works well for my reef tank. The response time is quick enough to trigger my heater controller accurately. Deducting one star because the wire insulation is a bit stiff, making it slightly hard to route tightly around corners.

Excellent for student projects
Bought a bulk pack for our high school physics lab. Students find them easy to interface with Raspberry Pi and MicroPython. The metal probe withstands accidental drops much better than the bare wire versions.

Reliable and robust

Great sensor, cable could be longer
The sensor itself works flawlessly with my Arduino project. Accuracy is spot on for brewing temperatures. My only minor complaint is that the 1-meter cable was just barely long enough for my fermenter; I wish they offered a 2-meter option.

Perfect for my hydroponic setup
This probe is exactly what I needed for monitoring water temperature in my nutrient tank. The stainless steel casing feels very durable, and the waterproof seal holds up perfectly after weeks of submersion. Readings are consistent with my lab-grade thermometer.
Q: What is the maximum depth this probe can withstand underwater?
A: While rated IP68, we recommend a maximum submersion depth of 10 meters for continuous operation to ensure the integrity of the cable entry point over time.
Q: Do I need an external resistor to use this with an Arduino?
A: Yes, the DS18B20 protocol requires a 4.7kΩ pull-up resistor connected between the data line and the VCC power line for reliable communication.
Q: Can multiple sensors be connected to a single data pin?
A: Absolutely. One of the main advantages of the DS18B20 is its unique 64-bit serial code, allowing you to daisy-chain multiple sensors on a single 1-Wire bus.
Q: Is the cable shielded against electromagnetic interference?
A: The standard model uses PVC insulated wires without specific EMI shielding. For environments with high electrical noise, we suggest keeping the cable away from high-voltage lines or adding external shielding.
Q: Can this sensor be used directly in saltwater aquariums without corroding?
A: Yes, the probe is made of 304 stainless steel which offers good resistance to corrosion in saltwater environments. However, for long-term submersion in highly saline conditions, regular inspection is recommended.
