Solid performance for the cost
Not industrial grade, but perfect for prototyping and hobbyist applications. The noise level is low enough for most analog reads. Would buy again for future projects.

Perfect for my solar inverter project

Easy to integrate

Exceeded expectations

Reliable overcurrent detection
We used these in a batch of motor controllers. The response time is incredibly fast, triggering our protection circuit immediately during short circuit tests. No failures so far.

Good accuracy, fast shipping
Measured values are very close to my multimeter readings. The only minor issue is that the pin headers were not included, so I had to solder my own. Otherwise, a solid module.
Q: Is the 5V supply strictly required or will 3.3V work?
A: While the sensor may function at 3.3V, it is designed and calibrated for a 5V supply. Using 5V ensures the full dynamic range and specified accuracy.
Q: Does the package include screw terminals for high current connections?
A: No, the module comes with bare PCB pads for the high-current path to allow for direct soldering of heavy gauge wires or custom busbars. Screw terminals are not included.
Q: What is the maximum safe current before damage occurs?
A: The rated continuous current is 35A. It can handle brief surges slightly above this, but for long-term reliability, we recommend staying within the 35A limit.
Q: Can this sensor measure AC current as well as DC?
A: Absolutely. Since it uses Hall Effect technology, it is capable of measuring both AC and DC current accurately within its rated range.
Q: Does this module output a linear voltage proportional to the current?
A: Yes, the WCS1800 provides a linear analog voltage output typically centered at VCC/2 when no current is flowing, increasing or decreasing based on current direction and magnitude.
