Great value, easy to integrate
For the price, you can't beat this module. It took me less than 10 minutes to wire it up and get readings. The only minor issue is that the pins are a bit close together, but manageable.

Solid performance

Excellent for learning projects
Bought this for a university robotics project. The analog output gives great granular data on moisture levels, not just a binary yes/no. Highly recommended for students.
Q: Is the sensor waterproof or just water-resistant?
A: The sensing area is designed to get wet and is nickel-plated to prevent rust, but the electronic components on the back of the PCB should be kept dry or conformally coated for long-term outdoor exposure.
Q: Does it come with connecting wires?
A: No, the package includes only the sensor module. You will need to solder your own header pins or wires to connect it to your microcontroller.
Q: How do I calibrate the sensitivity?
A: Use a small screwdriver to turn the blue potentiometer on the board. Turn it clockwise to decrease sensitivity (requires more water to trigger) and counter-clockwise to increase sensitivity.
Q: Can this sensor be used directly with a Raspberry Pi GPIO?
A: Yes, but please ensure you connect the VCC to the 3.3V pin on the Raspberry Pi to avoid damaging the GPIO pins, as the module supports 3.3V to 5V input.
Q: What is the maximum current this module can switch?
A: This module is a signal sensor, not a power relay. The digital output provides a logic signal (HIGH/LOW) and should be used to trigger a transistor, MOSFET, or relay module to control higher current loads.
