Perfect for my weather station project
This sensor module works exactly as described. The sensitivity adjustment is very responsive, allowing me to calibrate it for light drizzle versus heavy rain. Great value for the price.

Reliable detection

Great for learning electronics
Bought this for a university project. The LM393 comparator makes it easy to understand how analog signals are converted to digital. Documentation online is plentiful too.

Solid performance
The board feels sturdy and the gold plating on the contacts looks durable. It reacts quickly to water droplets. Just make sure to seal your connections if using outdoors long-term.

Good quality, easy to integrate
Integrated this into my Arduino-based robot kit without any issues. The digital output is clean. Only giving 4 stars because the included wires were a bit short for my specific setup.
Q: Is this module compatible with Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, this module operates at 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins. Just ensure you connect the VCC to the 3.3V or 5V pin accordingly.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the back of the PCB. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (detect smaller drops) and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: Does it come with a waterproof casing?
A: No, the module itself is the sensing element and is designed to be exposed to the elements. You will need to provide your own housing for the electronics while leaving the sensor plate exposed.
Q: What is the maximum current draw?
A: The module typically draws less than 20mA when active. The LED indicator consumes a small portion of this, which can be reduced by desoldering the power LED if needed for low-power apps.
Q: Can this detect snow or just liquid water?
A: The sensor detects moisture on the board. It will trigger when snow lands on it and begins to melt or if the accumulation creates a conductive path between the traces.
