Perfect for DIY Health Projects
This sensor module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The I2C communication is stable, and the library support is excellent. I was able to get heart rate readings within minutes of setting it up.

Best sensor in this price range
I've tried several pulse oximeter modules, and the MAX30102 offers the best balance of performance and cost. The interrupt feature helps save power in battery-operated projects.

Excellent Data Output
The FIFO buffer is a great feature that prevents data loss during high-speed sampling. I'm using this to log data to an SD card, and the consistency is impressive.

Works but sensitive to light
The sensor works as described, but it is very sensitive to ambient light. You absolutely need to shield it or use it in a dark enclosure for reliable results. Once I 3D printed a cover, it worked much better.

Compact and Easy to Use
Love how small this breakout board is. It fits perfectly into my wearable prototype case. The soldering pads are well-labeled, making integration very straightforward.

Good value but needs calibration
The hardware quality is solid for the price. Note that SpO2 readings require careful calibration and consistent finger placement to be accurate. Great for learning, but don't expect medical-grade precision without extra work.
Q: Does it come with jumper wires?
A: The module comes with header pins soldered or unsoldered depending on the specific SKU, but jumper wires are typically sold separately. Please check the package contents list before ordering.
Q: Can this measure blood pressure?
A: No, this sensor is designed specifically for heart rate (BPM) and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) estimation. It cannot measure blood pressure directly.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V logic levels?
A: Yes, the breakout board includes voltage regulators and level shifters, making it safe to use with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers like the Arduino Uno.
Q: Which library do you recommend for Arduino?
A: We recommend the 'SparkFun MAX3010x Pulse and Proximity Sensor Library' available in the Arduino Library Manager. It provides easy-to-use examples for both HR and SpO2.
Q: What is the maximum distance for detection?
A: This is a reflectance sensor intended for direct skin contact (like a fingertip or earlobe). It is not designed for non-contact detection at a distance.
