Reliable and compact
Used this for a line-following robot prototype. The 6mm size fits perfectly in tight spaces. The dot laser is precise and helps with accurate alignment.

Good value but gets warm
Great little sensor for the price. It does get slightly warm after running for 30 minutes continuously, so I added a small heatsink. Otherwise, performance is solid.

Solid build quality
The PCB looks clean and the soldering points are well-made. The laser intensity is adjustable via PWM if you connect it correctly. Just wish it came with jumper wires.

Great for learning electronics
Bought this for a university project. Documentation online is plentiful, and the module responded immediately to code changes. Highly recommend for beginners.

Exactly as described
No issues whatsoever. Powered it with 5V from a USB port and it lit up instantly. The red dot is sharp and distinct. Will buy more for future builds.

Perfect for Arduino projects
This module works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The beam is bright and clearly visible even in moderately lit rooms. Easy to wire up using the standard 3-pin layout.
Q: What is the maximum current draw?
A: Under normal operating conditions at 5V, the module typically draws around 20mA to 30mA. Ensure your microcontroller pin can supply this current or use an external driver.
Q: Can I use this outdoors in sunlight?
A: The laser dot may be difficult to see in direct bright sunlight. It performs best indoors or in shaded outdoor environments.
Q: Is the laser safe for eyes?
A: This is a Class 3R laser product. Please avoid staring directly into the beam or pointing it at anyone's eyes. Use with caution and appropriate safety measures.
Q: Does this come with a mounting bracket?
A: The package includes only the KY-008 module itself. However, the module has standard mounting holes that fit common M2 screws for easy installation.
Q: Can this module be powered directly by a 3.3V pin?
A: While it might emit a dim light at 3.3V, this module is designed for optimal performance at 5V. We recommend using a 5V power source for consistent brightness.
