Good value for money
For the price point, you get high precision and reliable serial communication. It took a little tweaking to get the baud rate synchronized, but otherwise great.

Perfect for industrial automation projects

Reliable level sensing solution

Great accuracy, tricky documentation
The sensor itself works flawlessly and measures distance precisely. However, the register map in the manual could be clearer. Once figured out, it's a solid unit.

Best sensor in its class
I have tested many laser modules, and this one offers the best consistency over long distances. The hybrid ultrasonic feature helps in challenging lighting conditions.

Excellent build quality
The housing feels very robust and the IP65 rating holds up well in our dusty warehouse environment. Communication is fast and error-free.
Q: Does this sensor support multiple devices on the same bus?
A: Yes, the RS485 interface supports multi-drop networking. You can connect up to 32 devices on the same bus by assigning unique Modbus addresses to each unit.
Q: How do I change the baud rate?
A: The baud rate can be configured via specific Modbus holding registers. Please refer to page 12 of the user manual for the register address and the hex codes for common baud rates (9600, 19200, 115200).
Q: What is the maximum measurement range for this module?
A: The effective measurement range is from 0.1 meters up to 40 meters, depending on the reflectivity of the target surface and ambient light conditions.
Q: Is there a Python library available for reading data?
A: We do not provide an official Python library, but since it uses standard Modbus RTU over RS485, you can easily use popular libraries like pymodbus or minimalmodbus to interface with the sensor.
Q: Can I use this outdoors in the rain?
A: The module has an IP65 rating, which protects against water jets and dust. It is suitable for outdoor use, but we recommend adding a small shield if it will be exposed to heavy, direct rainfall for extended periods.
