Best presence sensor I've used
Finally, a sensor that doesn't turn off the lights while I'm reading at my desk. The micro-motion detection is impressive. The build quality feels sturdy as well.

Great sensitivity, minor setup learning curve
The millimeter wave technology works much better than traditional PIR sensors. It took me a little while to understand the UART protocol documentation, but once configured, it has been rock solid.

Excellent value for money
For the price, you cannot beat the performance. The range is consistent up to about 5 meters in my testing, which matches the specs closely. Integration with ESP32 was straightforward.

Good but needs clear line of sight
Works great in open rooms. I noticed the detection drops if there is a thick wooden door in the way, which is expected for radar, but worth noting for placement planning.

Perfect for smart lighting projects
This sensor is incredibly accurate at detecting human presence even when the person is standing still. The Bluetooth configuration via the app made setting up detection zones very easy. Highly recommended for Home Assistant users.

Reliable and stable
I have installed five of these in my office. They distinguish between people and moving objects like fans perfectly. The photosensitivity feature is a nice bonus for automatic day/night mode switching.
Q: What is the power consumption of this module?
A: The module typically operates at 5V with a current consumption of approximately 30mA to 50mA during active scanning, making it suitable for most standard microcontroller projects.
Q: Can this sensor detect breathing or very slight movements?
A: Yes, the LD2410B uses millimeter wave radar technology capable of detecting micro-movements such as chest expansion from breathing, ensuring lights stay on even when you are stationary.
Q: Does it work through glass or thin plastic covers?
A: Yes, 24GHz radar waves can generally penetrate non-metallic materials like glass, thin plastic, or wood, allowing you to hide the sensor behind a decorative cover.
Q: Can I integrate this directly with Home Assistant?
A: Absolutely. Many users integrate this sensor using ESPHome or custom MQTT scripts. The UART output provides clear presence and distance data that is easy to parse.
Q: Is there an official mobile app for configuration?
A: Yes, Hi-Link provides a dedicated Android and iOS app that connects via Bluetooth to configure detection ranges, sensitivity levels, and output delays without needing to write code initially.
