Great value, minor learning curve
The hardware quality is excellent for the price. It took me a little while to understand the UART protocol documentation, but once connected to my ESP32, it works flawlessly. Detection range is as advertised.

Perfect for my smart home project

Superior to PIR sensors

Solid integration with Home Assistant
Works great with ESPHome and Home Assistant. The presence detection is very reliable. I deducted one star only because the default sensitivity settings needed some tweaking for my specific room layout.

A: The LD2410D-B can detect and track multiple moving targets simultaneously within its field of view. The exact number depends on the complexity of the scene and the configured resolution, but it handles typical room occupancy very well.
Q: Is there a mobile app available to configure the sensitivity zones?
A: Yes, Hi-Link provides a dedicated Android and iOS app that connects via Bluetooth. You can use it to visualize the detection map, adjust sensitivity, and set static/dynamic target thresholds without writing code.
Q: What is the maximum baud rate supported for UART communication?
A: The module supports standard UART baud rates including 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, and 115200 bps. The default factory setting is usually 115200 bps.
Q: Does this module work with 3.3V logic microcontrollers?
A: The module operates on 5V power, but the TX/RX GPIO pins are 3.3V tolerant. However, for stable communication with 3.3V MCUs like ESP32 or STM32, we recommend using a level shifter if your MCU is not 5V tolerant on input pins.
Q: Can this sensor detect people through a wooden door?
A: The LD2410D-B can detect motion through thin non-metallic materials like drywall or thin wood, but thick solid wood doors may significantly attenuate the signal. We recommend testing in your specific installation environment for best results.
