Great module, documentation could be better
The hardware quality is top-notch and the range is impressive for such a small size. However, the UART protocol documentation took some time to decipher for my ESP32 project. Once figured out, it performs exactly as advertised.

Reliable and stable connection
Been running this for three months straight without a single false positive or disconnect. The ability to filter out pet movements by adjusting the sensitivity gates is a game changer. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent sensitivity for smart home projects
I integrated this LD2401 module into my Home Assistant setup, and it works flawlessly. Unlike standard PIR sensors, this actually detects when I am sitting still at my desk. The Bluetooth configuration app made setting the detection zones very easy.

Superior to traditional motion sensors
We replaced all our office occupancy sensors with these. The accuracy in detecting static humans allows us to optimize HVAC usage significantly. The 24GHz frequency provides great penetration through thin materials too.

Good value for money
For the price point, you really can't beat the features. It supports both wired UART and wireless Bluetooth debugging. My only minor gripe is that the pin headers were not pre-soldered, but that's expected for modules like this.

Perfect for bathroom lighting automation
Finally found a sensor that doesn't turn off the lights while I'm reading in the bath. The millimeter wave technology accurately distinguishes between micro-movements and no presence. Highly recommended for automation enthusiasts.
Q: Is the Bluetooth feature used for data transmission or only configuration?
A: The Bluetooth 5.0 interface is primarily designed for initial configuration and real-time debugging via the Hi-Link mobile app. For continuous data integration into your system, we recommend using the UART interface.
Q: Does this work with 5V Arduino boards directly?
A: No, the module operates at 3.3V logic levels. Connecting it directly to a 5V board may damage the sensor. You must use a logic level converter or an intermediate 3.3V microcontroller like the ESP32.
Q: What is the maximum distance this module can reliably detect a person?
A: In optimal conditions, the module can detect human presence up to 8 meters. However, the effective range can be adjusted via software settings to suit smaller rooms and reduce interference from adjacent areas.
Q: Can this sensor detect breathing or just large movements?
A: Yes, the LD2401 uses millimeter wave technology capable of detecting micro-movements such as chest expansion from breathing, allowing it to confirm human presence even when the subject is completely stationary.
Q: Can multiple units be installed in the same room without interference?
A: Yes, you can install multiple units in the same area. To prevent interference, you should configure them to operate on different frequency channels or time-division slots using the configuration tool.
