Perfect for Arduino projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The detection range is accurate, and the adjustment pots make it easy to fine-tune sensitivity and delay time. Great value for money.

Reliable and cheap
Bought five of these for a university robotics project. All of them worked out of the box. The documentation online is plentiful, making integration very straightforward.

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
Works well for my automatic hallway light project. Initially, it was too sensitive to heat changes, but after adjusting the potentiometer, it performs exactly as needed.

Solid component
Standard HC-SR501 module. Nothing fancy, but it does the job perfectly. Just ensure you provide a stable 5V power supply to avoid false triggers.

Excellent motion detector
I use this to trigger a camera trap in my garden. It ignores small animals but picks up human movement reliably. The repeatable trigger mode is a great feature.
Q: Is this sensor waterproof for outdoor use?
A: No, the PCB and components are not waterproof. If used outdoors, you must house the module in a weatherproof enclosure with a clear window for the IR signal.
Q: Can I adjust the detection distance?
A: Yes, there is a potentiometer labeled 'Distance' on the board. Turning it clockwise generally increases the detection range, while counter-clockwise decreases it.
Q: What is the difference between L and H trigger modes?
A: In 'H' (Repeatable) mode, the output remains high as long as motion is detected. In 'L' (Non-repeatable) mode, once triggered, the output goes high for the set delay time and will not re-trigger until the block time has passed, even if motion continues.
Q: Can this sensor work directly with a 3.3V microcontroller like ESP8266?
A: Yes, the output high level is 3.3V, so it is compatible with 3.3V logic systems. However, ensure the input voltage to the module itself is within the 4.5V-20V range for stable operation, or use a dedicated 3.3V version if available.
Q: Does this come with the Fresnel lens attached?
A: Yes, the white dome-shaped Fresnel lens comes pre-installed on the module to focus infrared radiation onto the sensor element.
