Good sensor, needs calibration
The module arrived quickly and looks well-built. It took a minute or two to warm up before it started detecting motion accurately, which is normal for PIR sensors. Once calibrated, it has been reliable for my security prototype.

Easy to use for beginners
I am new to electronics, but the pinout is clearly labeled. Connecting VCC, GND, and OUT was straightforward. The included potentiometers make it easy to tweak the timing without writing complex code immediately.

Perfect for Arduino projects
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. The sensitivity adjustment is very responsive, and I was able to set the detection range exactly where I needed it for my hallway light project. Great value for the price.

Solid performance, wide voltage range
Appreciate that this runs on up to 20V, making it versatile for different power setups. The detection angle is wide as advertised. Only minor issue is the pins were slightly bent upon arrival, but easily fixed.

Reliable induction switch
Using this to trigger a camera trap. The delay time adjustment is crucial for this application, and the HC-SR501 handles it perfectly. No false triggers from wind or small insects so far.
Q: What is the difference between L and H trigger modes?
A: In 'H' mode, the output stays high as long as motion is detected continuously. In 'L' mode, the output goes high once when motion is detected and stays high for the set delay time, ignoring further motion during that period.
Q: Is the output current sufficient to drive an LED directly?
A: The output current is generally low. While it might light a small indicator LED, we recommend using a transistor or relay module to drive higher-power loads like strips or bulbs.
Q: How long does the sensor need to warm up after power-on?
A: Typically, the sensor requires an initial warm-up period of about 30 to 60 seconds after being powered on to stabilize and begin accurate detection.
Q: Does this module come with a Fresnel lens installed?
A: Yes, the white dome-shaped Fresnel lens is pre-installed on the module to focus infrared signals onto the sensor element.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through glass?
A: No, PIR sensors cannot detect infrared radiation through glass. The lens must have a direct line of sight to the moving heat source.
