Excellent precision for hobbyist spectroscopy

This module is fantastic for my DIY color analysis project. The 11-channel output provides much more detail than standard RGB sensors. Setup with Arduino was straightforward using the existing libraries.

Best value spectral sensor

I've tried several expensive spectrometers, and this little module gets surprisingly close for a fraction of the price. The flicker detection feature is a nice bonus for testing LED drivers.

Good hardware, steep learning curve

The hardware quality is solid, but the documentation could be better for beginners. Had to dig through datasheets to understand the register mapping. Once working, it performs well.

Perfect for custom white balance tools

Using this to build a custom incident light meter for photography. The ability to separate specific wavelengths allows me to calculate color temperature much more accurately than my phone camera.

Reliable for sorting applications

We integrated this into a small sorting robot to distinguish between colored blocks. It handles varying lighting conditions well thanks to the multiple channels. Wish the I2C address was more easily configurable via jumper.

Great data, needs careful calibration

The sensor reads very consistently, but you definitely need to calibrate it against a known light source for accurate absolute values. Perfect for relative measurements right out of the box though.

Q: Can this sensor detect UV light?

A: No, the AS7341 is designed for the visible spectrum and near-infrared (approx. 400nm to 950nm). It does not have dedicated channels for ultraviolet detection.

Q: What is the maximum I2C clock speed supported?

A: The sensor supports Standard-mode (100 kHz), Fast-mode (400 kHz), and Fast-mode Plus (1 MHz) I2C communication speeds.

Q: How do I handle the flicker detection feature?

A: Flicker detection is enabled via specific register settings. We recommend reviewing section 9.4 of the official AMS AS7341 datasheet for the exact configuration steps to detect 50Hz or 60Hz lighting flicker.
