Perfect for automatic lighting
I replaced several PIR sensors with these LD016 modules. They detect motion through thin plastic covers which PIRs couldn't do. The adjustable delay time prevents the lights from flickering off too soon.

Excellent sensitivity and range
This radar module works flawlessly for my smart home project. The ability to adjust the detection distance via the host software is a game changer. It ignores my ceiling fan but picks up human motion instantly.

Great value, minor setup learning curve
The hardware is solid and the 5.8G frequency seems very stable. The software took me a moment to figure out, but once configured, the sensor performs exactly as described. Highly recommend for DIY enthusiasts.

Compact and powerful
Small form factor makes it easy to hide in fixtures. The UART interface integrates easily with my ESP32 controller. Detection is accurate and false alarms are non-existent so far.

Best radar sensor I've tested
I have tried three different brands, and this LD016 is the most reliable. The host software provides granular control over parameters. Shipping was fast and packaging protected the components well.

Solid performance for the price
Works well for presence detection. I appreciate that it can distinguish between static presence and movement depending on how you tune it. Only wish the antenna cable was slightly longer.
Q: Can I adjust the sensitivity to ignore pets?
A: While there is no specific 'pet mode', you can adjust the detection range and sensitivity thresholds via the software to minimize false triggers from smaller moving objects.
Q: Does it come with the USB-to-TTL adapter?
A: Yes, the package includes a USB-to-TTL adapter board specifically configured to connect the LD016 module to your PC for configuration.
Q: Can this sensor detect motion through a glass cover?
A: Yes, the 5.8GHz radar waves can penetrate non-metallic materials like glass, plastic, and wood, allowing the sensor to be hidden behind covers.
Q: What is the maximum current consumption?
A: The typical operating current is approximately 35mA at 3.3V. Please ensure your power supply can handle this load steadily.
Q: Is the host software compatible with macOS?
A: The provided host software is currently designed for Windows OS. However, the module communicates via standard UART, so it can be controlled directly by microcontrollers on any platform.
