Perfect for my air quality monitor project

This sensor module integrated seamlessly with my ESP32 setup. The UART output is stable and the readings seem consistent when compared to a professional handheld meter. Great value for the precision offered.

Easy to interface

Good sensitivity, needs warm-up time

Works well for detecting formaldehyde levels after new furniture delivery. Just remember it needs about 3 minutes to warm up before giving accurate data. Once stabilized, it works great.

Good but sensitive to humidity

The sensor works well in dry conditions, but I noticed some fluctuation in readings when humidity was very high. Might need software compensation for extreme environments. Otherwise, solid hardware.

Reliable for general monitoring

We use these in several prototype units. They are reliable for general trend monitoring. Not a replacement for certified lab equipment, but excellent for embedded applications requiring real-time feedback.

Compact and low power

Exactly what I needed for a battery-powered device. The power consumption is very low as advertised. The form factor is small enough to fit into tight enclosures without issues.

5 FAQ

Q: Is calibration required before first use?

A: The module comes pre-calibrated from the factory. However, we recommend running the sensor in fresh air for a few minutes upon first power-up to allow for automatic zero-point stabilization.

Q: Does this module come with a connector cable?

A: No, the module is sold as a standalone board with pin headers. You will need to solder wires or purchase a compatible connector separately.

Q: Can I use this outdoors?

A: This sensor is designed for indoor environmental monitoring. Exposure to rain, direct sunlight, or extreme outdoor temperature fluctuations may damage the sensor or affect accuracy.

Q: What is the baud rate for UART communication?

A: The default baud rate for the ZE08-CH2O is 9600 bps. This can be configured via command if your application requires a different speed.

Q: Can this detect other VOCs besides formaldehyde?

A: While the sensor is specifically calibrated for formaldehyde (CH2O), it may show some cross-sensitivity to other volatile organic compounds. For accurate CH2O measurement, we recommend using it in environments where other strong interferents are minimal.
