Perfect for my Arduino fire alarm project
This sensor works exactly as described. It detected the flame from a lighter instantly from about 80cm away. The sensitivity potentiometer makes it easy to calibrate for different environments. Great value for hobbyists.

Reliable and fast response
Integrated this into a prototype safety system. The response time is incredibly fast. The digital output makes it very easy to interface with microcontrollers like ESP32 or Raspberry Pi.

Works well but limited range outdoors
Inside the house, it works perfectly. However, I noticed the effective range drops significantly when used near windows due to ambient IR interference. Good for controlled indoor environments.

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
The module is very sensitive to infrared light. I had to spend some time adjusting the blue potentiometer to avoid false positives from sunlight. Once calibrated, it works reliably for indoor testing.

Solid component for the price
Build quality is decent for the price point. The pins are sturdy and the PCB looks clean. Just remember this detects IR radiation, so strong heat sources without flames might trigger it if not adjusted properly.

Great for learning embedded systems
Bought this for a university project on IoT safety devices. Documentation was sufficient to get it running in minutes. The detection range is impressive for such a small module.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V Arduino boards?
A: Absolutely. The module operates on a voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, making it fully compatible with standard 5V Arduino boards like the Uno and Mega.
Q: What is the difference between the 3-wire and 4-wire versions?
A: Functionally they are identical. The 4-wire version often includes an extra mounting hole or a specific pin header configuration for certain breadboards, but the electrical connections (VCC, GND, DO) remain the same.
Q: Does this output analog data or just a trigger signal?
A: This specific module provides a digital switching output (High/Low). If you require analog data representing flame intensity, please look for our separate analog flame sensor models.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the back of the PCB. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (detect flames from further away) and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: Can this sensor detect a candle flame specifically?
A: Yes, the module is highly effective at detecting the infrared radiation emitted by candle flames, typically within a range of 50-80cm depending on ambient light conditions.
