Perfect for our university project

Good value for hobbyists
Works as described for single-phase AC detection. The output signal is clean, though you do need to calibrate it against a known load for precise measurements. Great for learning.

Solid performance for the price
I bought three of these for a multi-channel data acquisition system. They all performed consistently. Just remember that the output is AC, so you'll need a rectifier circuit for DC microcontrollers.

Compact and easy to mount
The form factor is small enough to fit into tight enclosures. The screw terminals make connecting the primary wire very secure without needing to solder high-voltage lines.
Q: Can this be used for DC current measurement?
A: No, this module is designed specifically for Single-Phase AC current (50/60Hz). It will not detect or measure Direct Current (DC).
Q: Are the screw terminals large enough for 12 AWG wire?
A: Yes, the screw terminals are designed to accommodate wires up to 12 AWG comfortably, making it suitable for standard household wiring tests often done in college labs.
Q: Does this module require an external power supply to operate?
A: No, this is a passive current transformer. It generates its own output signal based on the magnetic field from the current flowing through the primary wire, so no external power is needed for the sensor itself.
Q: Is the output voltage compatible directly with Arduino analog pins?
A: The output is an AC voltage centered around 0V. To read it safely with an Arduino (0-5V DC), you typically need to add a biasing circuit (shifting the signal to 2.5V) and potentially a rectifier or sample both halves of the wave in software.
Q: What is the maximum current this sensor can handle before saturating?
A: The module is optimized for 0-5A. While it can physically withstand higher currents briefly, accuracy will drop significantly above 5A due to core saturation. For higher currents, we recommend our 10A or 20A models.
