Ultra-compact and reliable
I was worried about the size affecting performance, but this little module punches above its weight. It reads RGB values consistently even under varying ambient light conditions. Shipping was fast too.

Great value, minor documentation gaps
The hardware works flawlessly for sorting colored blocks in my robot arm project. The only reason for 4 stars is that the protocol documentation could be more detailed regarding error codes. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Excellent precision for the price
Compared to other sensors in this category, the Kangwei module offers superior repeatability. The color temperature detection is particularly useful for my photography lighting setup. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Perfect for my smart lighting project
This sensor module is incredibly accurate at detecting color temperature. I integrated it with an ESP32 to automate my desk lamp, and the serial output is very stable. The compact size made it easy to fit inside the housing.

Solid performer for IoT applications
Integration with Arduino was straightforward. The voltage range is flexible, which is a plus. It occasionally needs recalibration if moved from extreme cold to warm environments, but that's expected for this type of sensor.

Exceeded expectations
Fast response time and clean data output. I used this for a quality control prototype, and it successfully distinguished between subtle shade differences. The build quality feels robust despite the small footprint.
Q: Is the baud rate configurable?
A: Yes, while the default is 9600bps, you can change the baud rate by sending specific configuration commands via the serial interface. Please refer to section 4.2 of the datasheet for the command set.
Q: Does this module come with a library for Arduino?
A: Yes, we provide a sample Arduino library and code examples on our GitHub repository linked in the product manual. It supports basic RGB reading and color temperature calculation out of the box.
Q: Does it work outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: Direct sunlight can saturate the sensor and affect reading accuracy. It is designed primarily for indoor or controlled lighting environments. If used outdoors, shielding the sensor from direct sun is strongly advised.
Q: What is the maximum distance for accurate color detection?
A: For optimal accuracy, the target object should be within 5mm to 15mm of the sensor lens. Readings become less reliable beyond 20mm due to light dispersion.
Q: Can this sensor detect colors through glass or plastic?
A: The sensor can read colors through transparent materials, but accuracy may decrease depending on the tint or opacity of the material. We recommend testing with your specific cover material for critical applications.
