Perfect for my line follower robot

Best sensor in this price range
Compared to single or dual channel sensors, the 5-way tracking provides much smoother navigation around curves. The potentiometer is sturdy and holds its setting well.

Reliable and fast response
Tested at high speeds on a small chassis and the reaction time is impressive. The five lines allow for smooth PID control algorithms. Highly recommended for advanced line followers.

Works well under normal light
Functionality is great indoors. I noticed some interference under direct sunlight, but that is expected for IR sensors. Using a simple shield solved the issue. Solid build quality.

Good value but needs careful mounting
The sensor array is responsive and the digital output is clean. You need to ensure the height from the ground is precise, around 10-15mm, for best results. Great price for a 5-channel module.
Q: How do I mount this to a robot chassis?
A: The PCB has four 3mm mounting holes at the corners. You can use M3 standoffs or screws to secure it to your chassis, ensuring the sensors face downward.
Q: Does it come with connecting wires?
A: The module usually comes with header pins soldered or unsoldered depending on the option selected, but jumper wires are typically not included in the package.
Q: What is the current consumption of all 5 channels active?
A: Typically, the module consumes around 20mA to 30mA when all IR LEDs are active at 5V. Please refer to the datasheet for precise graphs based on voltage.
Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP32?
A: Absolutely. The module operates between 3.3V and 5V, and the digital output is TTL compatible, making it safe to connect directly to 3.3V microcontrollers.
Q: Can this sensor detect white lines on a black background?
