Kids love the obstacle avoidance feature
We used this primarily for obstacle avoidance in a small smart car kit. It detects objects reliably within the specified range. The build quality feels solid for the price point.

Reliable and consistent
I have tested many IR modules, and this 4-channel version offers the best balance of price and performance. The line tracking is smooth, and there is no noticeable lag in the signal output.

Solid performance, compact design
The form factor is very compact, which helped save space on my chassis. The only minor issue is that the pins are slightly close together, so be careful when plugging in jumper wires. Otherwise, fantastic sensor.

Good value but needs careful calibration
The sensor is responsive and the four channels provide great resolution for smooth line following. You do need to spend some time calibrating the potentiometers under your specific lighting conditions, but once set, it works well.

Excellent for university robotics class
Bought five of these for our team's competition robot. They are robust, easy to wire, and the digital output makes interfacing with microcontrollers incredibly simple. Great purchase.

Perfect for my Arduino car project
This module worked flawlessly right out of the box. The sensitivity adjustment is very precise, allowing me to tune it perfectly for the black tape on my white floor. Highly recommended for beginners.
Q: Can this module work outdoors in sunlight?
A: While the module has adjustable sensitivity, strong direct sunlight can interfere with infrared sensors. It is best suited for indoor use or shaded outdoor environments for reliable performance.
Q: What is the maximum detection distance for obstacles?
A: The typical detection range for obstacles is between 2cm and 30cm, depending on the reflectivity of the object and the sensitivity setting adjusted via the potentiometer.
Q: Does this come with mounting screws?
A: The package includes the sensor module and pin headers. Mounting screws are not included, but the standard 3mm holes fit most M3 screws commonly available in electronics kits.
Q: Is a library required to use this with Arduino?
A: No special library is needed. Since the module outputs digital HIGH/LOW signals, you can read the pins using standard digitalRead() functions in your Arduino sketch.
Q: Can I use this to detect clear glass obstacles?
A: Infrared sensors rely on reflection, so transparent objects like clear glass may not reflect enough IR light to be detected reliably. It works best on opaque objects.
