Excellent build quality
Bought this for my son's science project. The PCB is sturdy, and the soldering points are clear. The five channels provide much better resolution than the standard 3-channel modules we used before.

Great value, needs careful tuning
Works exactly as described. You do need to spend some time adjusting the potentiometers to get the threshold right for your specific lighting conditions, but once set, it tracks smoothly.

Perfect for competition bots
This sensor module is incredibly reliable for our high-speed line followers. The ability to detect red lines in addition to black and white gives us a huge advantage in complex arenas. Calibration was straightforward.

Good sensitivity range
Very sensitive to surface changes. I had to raise the mounting height slightly to prevent false triggers on glossy tape, but overall it performs well for the price point.

Fast response time
The reaction speed on this sensor is impressive. Our robot can take sharp corners at high speeds without losing the line. The digital output makes interfacing with Arduino and STM32 very simple.
Q: Can this sensor distinguish between a red line and a black line simultaneously?
A: Yes, the photoelectric sensors are calibrated to detect contrast differences, allowing recognition of black, white, and red lines on various backgrounds.
Q: Is this compatible with a Raspberry Pi GPIO?
A: Absolutely. Since the output is digital TTL level, it can be directly connected to Raspberry Pi GPIO pins, provided you match the voltage logic (3.3V or 5V).
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity if the ambient light changes?
A: There are small potentiometers on the back of the module for each channel. Use a small screwdriver to turn them until the indicator LED turns on or off at your desired threshold.
Q: Do I need to write complex code to use all 5 channels?
A: No, each channel outputs a simple HIGH or LOW signal. You just need to read the state of the 5 corresponding GPIO pins in your microcontroller code.
Q: What is the optimal mounting height for best performance?
A: For most applications, a distance of 5mm to 10mm between the sensor and the track surface provides the most stable readings.
