Compact and easy to interface
Love the small form factor. It fit perfectly into our custom enclosure. The UART interface made it very easy to connect to our ESP32 microcontroller. Response time is fast enough for real-time monitoring applications.

Excellent sensitivity for industrial projects
Integrated this module into our warehouse safety prototype. The I2C communication is stable, and the readings for CO and NO2 are consistent when compared against our calibrated reference equipment. Highly recommended for engineering teams.

Works but needs technical knowledge
The hardware is solid, but this is not a plug-and-play solution for beginners. You need to understand register maps and calibration algorithms to get accurate results. Great for professionals, steep learning curve for hobbyists.

Perfect for university research

Good value, requires calibration
The sensor works well out of the box, but you definitely need to run a calibration routine in fresh air before deployment. Once calibrated, the data output for ammonia and methane is quite reliable. Documentation could be slightly more detailed.

Reliable multi-gas detection
We are using these in several test chambers. The ability to detect five different gases with one module saves significant board space. The warm-up time is as specified, so plan your power management accordingly.
Q: Is the output digital or analog?
A: The 4514 module provides a digital output via I2C or UART interfaces. It does not provide a raw analog voltage output proportional to gas concentration.
Q: How often does the sensor need to be calibrated?
A: We recommend performing a zero-point calibration in fresh air every 3 to 6 months depending on the exposure to target gases and environmental conditions to maintain high accuracy.
Q: Does this module come with a pre-installed library for Arduino?
A: Yes, we provide an open-source Arduino library on our GitHub repository that supports both I2C and UART communication modes for the 4514 module.
Q: Can this detect Carbon Dioxide (CO2) as well?
A: No, the 4514 module is specifically tuned for CO, NO2, H2, NH3, and CH4. It does not have selectivity for Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Please check our NDIR sensor series for CO2 detection.
Q: What is the expected lifespan of the sensor element?
A: Under normal operating conditions within the specified temperature and humidity ranges, the sensor element typically lasts between 2 to 3 years before recalibration or replacement is recommended.
