Finally a sensor that doesn't rust!
I've tried resistive sensors before and they corroded within weeks. This capacitive module has been in my tomato planter for two months with no signs of degradation. The readings are stable and easy to calibrate.

Great value, easy to wire
Works perfectly with my Arduino Uno. The gravity connector makes wiring foolproof. I deducted one star because the documentation could be more detailed on calibration steps, but online tutorials filled the gap.

Good sensitivity range
The potentiometer allows you to fine-tune the digital output trigger easily. It reacts quickly to changes in soil moisture. Just make sure to waterproof your connections if using outdoors.

A: No, this package contains only the soil moisture detection module. You will need to source a water pump and relay module separately to complete an automatic watering system.
Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V logic boards like ESP8266?
A: Yes, the module operates comfortably between 3.3V and 5.0V, making it fully compatible with ESP8266, ESP32, and standard 5V Arduinos.
Q: Can this sensor be used directly in salty soil?
A: While the capacitive design is corrosion-resistant, highly saline soil can affect reading accuracy. We recommend calibrating the sensor specifically for your soil type before deployment.
Q: How deep should I insert the sensor into the pot?
A: For best results, insert the sensor vertically until the prongs are fully submerged in the root zone, typically about 2/3rds of the probe length, avoiding the very bottom of the pot.
Q: What is the expected lifespan of the probe?
A: Due to the nickel-plated gold surface and capacitive technology, the probe is designed to last several years under normal conditions, significantly outperforming resistive sensors.
