Perfect for robotic joint feedback
I used this sensor for a custom robotic arm project. The 12-bit resolution provides smooth movement without any noticeable jitter. The I2C library worked flawlessly with my Arduino setup right out of the box.

Easy to integrate for beginners
As someone new to embedded systems, I found the documentation and community examples very helpful. The analog output mode made it easy to visualize the sine wave on an oscilloscope immediately.

Compact and reliable
The breakout board layout is logical and compact. Soldering the headers was easy, and the PCB quality looks professional. It has been running continuously in my weather station vane for two weeks with zero drift.

Solid industrial prototype component
Using this for a prototype CNC rotary axis. It handles the vibration well. I deducted one star only because the included magnet is a bit small for larger shafts, but standard magnets work fine as replacements.

Great value but mind the air gap
The sensor works very well, but you need to be precise about the distance between the chip and the magnet. Once I got the 1mm air gap correct using a spacer, the readings became incredibly stable.

High speed performance confirmed
Tested this on a high-speed motor spinning at 15k RPM. The AS5600 kept up without dropping frames or losing position. Much better than the optical encoders I was using previously in dusty environments.

A: While the package includes the hardware and a datasheet, you can find numerous open-source libraries and ESP32 code examples on GitHub by searching for 'AS5600 ESP32'.
Q: Can I use this with a 5V Arduino Uno directly?
A: Yes, the module supports 3.3V to 5V logic levels. You can connect it directly to a 5V Arduino Uno without needing a level shifter for most applications.
Q: Can this sensor measure absolute position after power loss?
A: Yes, the AS5600 is an absolute magnetic encoder, meaning it knows its exact position immediately upon powering up without needing to home or rotate.
Q: What is the maximum cable length recommended for the I2C connection?
A: For reliable I2C communication at standard speeds (100kHz or 400kHz), we recommend keeping cable lengths under 30cm. For longer distances, consider using an I2C extender or switching to the SPI interface.
