Good accuracy, needs calibration
The module is well-built and compact. I noticed a slight offset in the zero-current reading, but it was easily corrected in the code. Overall a solid choice for DIY electronics.
Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V microcontrollers like ESP32?
A: Yes, it is compatible. However, since the output swings around 2.5V, you may need a voltage divider or an op-amp circuit to safely interface with 3.3V ADC pins to avoid exceeding their maximum input voltage.
Q: What is the maximum continuous current this can handle safely?
A: While the range is ±30A, for continuous operation, we recommend staying below 20A to prevent excessive heating and ensure long-term reliability without additional cooling.
Q: Does the package include connecting wires?
A: No, the package includes only the ACS712 module board. Connecting wires and headers are not included but are standard components easily sourced separately.
Q: Can this module measure AC current as well as DC?
A: Yes, the ACS712-30A module can measure both AC and DC current within its ±30A range.
Q: What is the output voltage when no current is flowing?
A: When no current is flowing, the output voltage is typically half of the supply voltage, which is approximately 2.5V for a 5V system.
