Reliable controller for educational kits

We bought ten of these for our university robotics lab. They are robust, easy to program using standard libraries, and have survived multiple student projects without failure.

Solid build quality

The PCB feels sturdy and the screw terminals for power input are a nice touch compared to cheaper alternatives. Lost one star because the included header pins were slightly bent, but easily fixed.

Great value but needs careful wiring

The board functions well once set up correctly. Make sure your power supply can handle the total current draw if you plan to use all servos at once. Documentation could be slightly better, but plenty of examples exist online.

Excellent I2C implementation

The address selection jumpers are easy to use, allowing me to daisy-chain three boards for a total of 48 servos. No communication errors detected after weeks of testing.

Perfect for my hexapod robot

This board works flawlessly with my Arduino project. The I2C interface saves so many GPIO pins, and all 16 channels operate smoothly without jitter. Highly recommended for multi-servo projects.

Good but runs warm under load

It does exactly what it says, but the voltage regulator gets quite hot when driving more than 8 servos simultaneously. I added a small fan to keep it cool. Otherwise, performance is solid.

Q: Is an external power supply required?

A: Yes, while the logic side can be powered via USB or the microcontroller, we strongly recommend an external 5V-6V power source for the servos to prevent brownouts.

Q: Can this board control digital and analog servos?

A: Yes, this module supports both digital and analog standard 3-wire servos as long as they operate within the 5V-6V range.

Q: Does this work with Raspberry Pi?

A: Absolutely. Since it uses the standard I2C protocol, it is fully compatible with Raspberry Pi using Python libraries like Adafruit CircuitPython or similar.

Q: What happens if I exceed the current limit?

A: The board has thermal protection, but exceeding the current limit may cause the voltage regulator to overheat and shut down temporarily. Always calculate your total servo current draw before connecting.

Q: What is the maximum number of boards I can connect via I2C?

A: You can connect up to 8 boards on the same I2C bus by configuring the address jumpers, giving you control over 128 servos total.
